Using reverse engineering methods that Dream learned from internet forums, PewDiePie’s Minecraft world’s seed was identified in July 2019 by Dream.
In November 2019, Dream posted a popular video with the title “Minecraft, Except Item Drops Are Random And Multiplied.” As of January 2021, 49 million people had viewed it. In a video that Dream and another YouTuber, GeorgeNotFound, released in January 2020, they linked an Arduino.
Instead of their yearly YouTube Rewind series in December 2020, YouTube published a list of their top trending videos and creators. The “Minecraft Speedrunner VS 3 Hunters GRAND FINALE” video by Dream was listed as the seventh-best “Top Trending Video” in the United States by YouTube. Dream was also ranked as the second-best “Top Creator” and the top “Breakout Creator” overall. As of January 2021, the Dream livestream on YouTube from November 2020, which peaked at roughly 700,000 people, was the 6th most watched gaming stream of all time. A December 2020 Polygon article noted that “2020 has been a wonderful year for Dream,” identifying him as “YouTube’s biggest gaming channel of the moment.”
2. Minecraft Manhunt:
One person, generally “Dream,” seeks to complete a speedrun of Minecraft without dying, while another player or team of players (the “hunters”) tries to kill the runner or obstruct their progress. This format is used in Dream’s most watched YouTube series, “Minecraft Manhunt.” On December 26, 2019, the first video in the series, titled “Beating Minecraft But My Friend Tries to Stop Me,” was released. The following years saw the release of further videos with progressively more hunters in them. On February 26, 2022, the series’ last episode was released.
One of the Minecraft Manhunt films, which has more than ten million overall views, is the sixth-most popular trending video on YouTube in 2020. The most popular Minecraft episode in Dream as of February 2022.
3. Music:
Dream and PmBata collaborated to release their first single, “Roadtrip,” on February 4, 2021, and it received over 25 million YouTube views. Dream’s second song, “Mask,” which he published on May 20, 2021, had over 24.7 million YouTube views. In June of that same year, an animated music video for “Mask” was made available; however, it was later taken down. The lyrics, animation, and derogatory portrayal of prescription medications as “regular pills” in the song and music video drew criticism. Dream and American singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin collaborated on Dream’s third song, “Change My Clothes,” which was published on August 19, 2021. The video for the song has received over 8.3 million YouTube views.
